We’re getting the blog back up and running after a long break for some family/ heavy life stuff… thanks for still following along! I want to do a series of blogs on some summer books we’ve discovered lately, and to start it off, I’m sharing And Then Comes Summer by Tom Brenner and illustrated by Jaime Kim. It came out in May from Candlewick and it captures everything lovely and wondrous about summer as a child.
Jaime Kim’s gorgeous acrylic illustrations bring summer to life with diverse characters, and all of the beautifully bright, detailed landscapes that hold our best summer memories.
From side walk lemonade stands, ice cream trucks (our neighborhood still has one!), to capturing every barefoot minute of sun that stretches out over a hot summer day, Tom Brener’s nostalgic, lyrical tone celebrates the joy of a summer spent outside.
Whether you’re headed to the beach, or a swim in the lake, or maybe a retreat to a campsite in the woods, this book reads like the ultimate summer bucket list!
What’s on your family summer bucket list? We’ve still got a few more sun soaked weeks to enjoy all of this summer goodness. Go grab this book from your library or from Star Line Books here, get outside, read it on your picnic blanket, and relish every sun-soaked moment with your kiddos.

I can’t wait to check this one out at the library! Looks so cute! We get GreyAnn outside so much she has been whining to stay inside! I think she needs this book to bring back the excitement!
The illustrations are so pretty! I checked it out of the library for Heather, so if you wanna take a peak inside next time you are at Kids Space it’s on the shelf!
